GeM Registration Fees 2026: What Sellers Actually Pay
By GeMSignal · Updated · 5 min read
"GeM registration is free" is true, but it isn't the whole story. Here is every cost a seller may run into, which ones still apply in 2026, and which ones agents wrongly charge for.
Registration: free
Creating a seller or service provider account on gem.gov.in has no fee. If someone charges you for "GeM registration", you are paying for their time as a consultant — not a government fee. You can do it yourself with our registration guide.
Caution money: discontinued
The refundable caution money deposit was removed in August 2025. Sellers who paid earlier can withdraw it from their dashboard.
Costs that can still apply
- EMD (Earnest Money Deposit) — set per bid by the buyer. Eligible MSEs and recognised startups are often exempt.
- ePBG (Performance Bank Guarantee) — some contracts ask the winning seller for a performance security.
- Vendor assessment — required for OEMs in certain categories; GeM rationalised these fees in 2025.
- Transaction charges — apply to orders above a set value; GeM reduced these in 2025.
Check the current numbers
Fee slabs for vendor assessment and transaction charges are revised periodically. Check the latest terms on gem.gov.in or call 1800-419-3436 before you budget for them.
